Friday evening Shabbat services at Makom Kadosh (JFCC) are casual and musical. We begin with community candle-lighting at 6:45pm.
Using a mix of new and old melodies, traditional liturgy with full transliteration and sing-able English, you’ll find our style easy to participate in.
Opportunity for group discussion and learning about Shabbat, the Torah for the week, a holiday or current event is part of every service. Have a question? Just ask! REALLY.
Please stay & join us for a delicious pot-luck veggie/dairy/kosher fish dinner & conversation!
In cold weather, we might light the fire; in warm weather, we have services outside on the beautiful brick patio, where we can hear the birds singing, trees rustling, and the waters of the Broad Run creek passing by, joining our voices in song and prayer!
At the JFCC, we take a more casual approach to what we wear on Shabbat. Come as you are, be comfortable and relax..... Shabbat is a special time for renewing and reconnecting. Let the cares of the work week and school week fade away... SHABBAT SHALOM! May you be blessed by the peace and wholeness of Shabbat!
